Thoughts

Catherine was a lovely, compasionate, witty and warm lady who had the rare skill of making the world seem a slightly kinder and happier place. My thoughts with you all. Love Peter (Scott)

A Tribute to Beautiful Aunty Ita, Aunty Ita was a wonderful person, she was a cheerful, fun-loving lady who was full of life. Her smile could light up a room and it was infectious. She made everyone around her happy. Whether it was something funny, her gentle nature, or her big smile, she was a delight to be around on our visits to Bristol and always made us welcome in her home. I first met Aunty Ita in 1995 when I travelled to the UK with my Mum and Dad. Although I only met her in person in 1995 I felt I knew her very well through the many letters she wrote to my Dad and Mum in Australia over many years. As a child I remember reading the letters she would write telling us all about her family and what they had been up to in the mysterious UK. I still have some of those letters. In 2011 Aunty Ita and Uncle Allan welcomed Russell and I and our three small children to their home as part of our European travels. We had lots of fun during this time and Ita and Allan were so very supportive of us as we managed 3 small children on a long holiday. I remember laughing and crying with Ita as she recalled her childhood growing up in Lismire, County Cork with my dad Ben, her parents and siblings. Oh the mischief Ita and Dad used to get up too! Thankfully just before the pandemic began I was once again in Bristol in July 2018 and it was a pleasure and honour to visit Aunty Ita and Uncle Allan and spend time chatting over lunches and dinners. Very special memories to be treasured forever. I will miss Aunty Ita’s smile and cheeky sweet nature. She was an incredible lady and will be missed by many. I wish you peace Aunty Ita and will always love you. Our love, thoughts and prayers are with you Allan, Jane, Sarah & families as you say a difficult farewell. Slán le hAintín Ita go dtí go mbuailfimid le chéile arís (Farewell Aunty Ita until we meet again) With love Mary, Russell, Madelyn, Isabella & James Harper Melbourne, Australia

Do not stand By my grave, and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep. I am the thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints in snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain. As you awake with morning's hush, I am the swift, up-flinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the day transcending night. Do not stand By my grave, and cry I am not there, I did not die
